Rear fog light does not work

Featured Replies

I have checked the bulb and its to be alright, visually. I also have disconnected the entire light assembly in order to clean the connector. Still, it won't light up.

Off topic: My last post (Idle issues). I'm happy to report that the idle issues and lack of response, power at low rpm is almost gone.

There is a listing in the owners handbook suggesting this has a dedicated fuse - no.37 - which may be a good starting point. I would then suggest using a multi-meter to check for voltage at the contacts in the bulb holder, as a visual check of a bulb is not really accurate enough - have you actually tried a different bulb. The next move is to check if you can remove the switch and power the light with a piece of wire bypassing the actual switch contacts, someone such as Wino will hopefully be along soon to advise on terminals.

I did check the fuse, it is whole. But I will use a multi-meter and try a different bulb.

Hi, I don't know if you sorted this issue yet but suggesting the bulb looks alright "Visually", (Same for the fuse) Is like saying something looks like it will taste nice, visually... You use your tongue for that and will often be way off mark!  Get the items tested properly and/or replace with ones you know actually ARE working. You would be surprised how often a bulb/fuse looks good but won't work and they are so simple to test and replace.

Tanks for the tip!

Also do not think just because something is new that it cannot be faulty, the quality of bulbs at least has dropped over the decades, I do not know if that is so for fuses but I have experienced a faulty fuse in the past.

I had a new brakelight bulb that was faulty and caused me some confusion, thought it might be the holder at fault, until I did as mrgf has already suggested and swapped it over to the side that was working OK and put that bulb in the side that appeared to be faulty.  What was happening was the filament of the bulb heated up when the brake pedal was pressed and if the pedal was pressed long enough the filament heated up enough for it to detach itself and the bulb stop working, but when it cooled enough it retouched ready to start the cycle again.  Only noticed when the brake pedal wasn't just dabbed for testing.

Years later I also had another brand new (brakelight) bulb that did not work straight out of the packaging.
