Advice needed

Hi guys,

bought a 64 plate vrs a few weeks ago. Within 200 miles DPF warning was on, shortly later oil level warning came on. Had an oil change carried out 500 miles ago, oil level warning light is back on and needs topping up, DPF regens constantly (Carista says soot levels are fine) even with giving it a blast.

seem to be getting through 1l of oil per 500 miles, no loss of power, can’t see any leaks, no faults on Carista apart from a heater warning and a seat belt warning, any ideas before I throw money at it?

thanks in advance

Hi. How many miles u have.

@ChrisLFC  Welcome.

When you had the oil changed did you dip it cold and see where the oil was and then at operating temp so that you know whoever did the oil change had enough oil in the engine?

Are you sure now that the 'At operating temperature' oil level check shows you have the correct quantity of oil in now?

What is your soot level and oil ash mass?
If your DPF has a high oil ash level, the DPF will need to be removed for cleaning or replaced, I will try and find the figures for oil ash.

The soot figures (from memory) are...
0-18g Passive Regen

19-30g Active Regen

31-40g DPF Light Illuminates - Long drive with high engine speed.

40g+ Is filter replacement

Have you removed the undertray and checked for signs of leaks? It could be that the sump plug or oil filter housing is leaking and the undertray is catching it.

If there are no obvious leaks, then it could be the car is burning the oil and contributing to your DPF issue... which would indicate you have been sold a lemon... if it was bought from a dealer I would be informing them off the issues immediately.
