Street name/road number.

Featured Replies

Can anyone tell me if you can display the street name or road number while driving normally?

Not when you are following route guidance i mean.

Have checked the handbook and cannot find anything.

I've wondered about this too. It used to be possible in my previous car, and I found it really useful 👍

Seems this might be an omission by  Skoda.

I had this available with Nissan.

Isn't the road name / number that is displayed when you have a destination set the next road after the upcoming direction (which may or may not be the same road that you're on now)? Therefore, the car never displays the road you are on now (unless the road you need to be on next is the same road). I can see how it would be a nice to have, but can't say it bothers me greatly.

But then UX designers are a funny breed with some of the decisions they make - take Apple Maps... if you have a route set, it'll display/warn about speed cameras and traffic lights now, but AFAICT there is absolutely no way of displaying them if you don't have a route set.

I think the assumption is that if you have satellite navigation, you're going to set it every time you get in the car. From a certain point of view, this could make sense - at the very least, the route should take into account traffic etc. and so you shouldn't assume the quickest way is the route you took yesterday. On the other hand, when you're travelling around where you live, you tend to know traffic patterns and alternative routes etc. and so don't need the navigation, but it would still be nice to have access to some of the data provided if you do have a route set.

Sorry, went off on a bit of a rant there. 🤪

Thanks for the reply Yogl-Bear.

Would just like to know what road i`m on in normal travel.

In my old Kodiaq without the virtual cockpit it displayed the road name if you changed the central instrument display to nav whilst no route was set, I.e the compass would display with the street name above or below it.
