Weird engine temperature problem

Featured Replies

Hi,

Currently my car stands on 360k kms - 2.0 TDI 4x2 (pre-facelift)

I am facing a weird issue where when you stay above 120 kmph for most of the trip's time, the engine temperature increases to 95 celcius and comes back to 90 (which is normal) in few minutes. This is occuring from the past few days, sometimes it comes even when you are below 120. But most of the times happening above 120 kmph. It cannot be related to engine RPM as I tried this by driving the car in 2nd gear @ 3500 RPM for 45+ minutes.

Oh and btw the timing belt was done I think at 358k kms or so, BUT the water pump was NOT changed. Could that be the cause? or the thermostat?

The authorized Skoda Service Centre couldn't find anything related to it as well.

Coolant check

Temperature sensor check

What else?

What is the ambient temperature?

Really.

Who on earth recommended that?

Try not to drive in 2nd gear @ 3500 for 45+ minutes again...

For the cost involved replace the thermostat.

I would have thought that at those speeds and the temperature in India it would be expected.
