Superb 2 - 2011 factory towbar

Yes it does, but once you have pressed it in and moved the lever down you can let go, it's just to allow a release...

 

Will try some more force this weekend - I was trying not to snap/break anything but I dare not use it now in the unlocked position so either way it needs to come out!

The key lock should just prevent it being stolen, the functionality of the towbar should be exactly the same with it locked or unlocked.

 

I very much doubt you will break the towball with a hammer. A 750kg unbraked trailer will put much more force on it than you could do.

I'm struggling with a similar brand tow hook on my Roomster, also made by Prof Svar. (The safety latch won't pop out when the hook is locked so it wont pass Swedish inspection, trying to find a way to service the latch but I might need to buy a complete new hook assembly)
