Permanently disable Kessy on Scala SE L

Featured Replies

9 months of waiting, but our new Scala SE L is finally here, and first impressions are really good.

One thing we would prefer to do is disable the keyless entry. We've worked out the "one off" method as per the manual, but has anyone managed to do this permanently, so you have to use the buttons on the key to lock / unlock?

Thanks.

on the infotainment opening and closing setting? Might be an option there to turn off kessy?

That's what I thought as well (like other models), but can't seem to find it, hence asking if anyone has found it.

Ah hopefully someone can shed some light as i am still waiting on ours.

edit:Looks like it does not have that option indeed: 18:15

Hi All,

ok... one year on from the last post on this...

I finally got myself a 2022 Scala, UK '72 plate!  Very happy with it 😀

Except... I'd really like to permanently disable the keyless entry.

I cannot find the option in the Car console, or in the instruction manual etc.

Has there been any update to this?  Can one permanently disable the keyless entry on a Scale wit the latest S/W updates?

Kind regards

Martin

PS:

If permanent disabling will NOT work:

Would a mass pertition to Skoda work?  Do SKODA listen to their drivers?!

PPS:

We have been watching nightmare theft videos on Tube.

Sure, most probably not happen on a base entry level Scala, but still....

No further update from us... we are still having lock and touch the door handle within a few seconds to "deadlock" the car. This effectively prevents keyless entry, but has to be done every time you lock the car.

Hey TR,

Many thanks for coming back so quickly about this, I really appreciate it 😀

Sorry, I'm a newbie on the Scala.

Can you explain what you mean by  '....Lock and touch the door handle within a few seconds to "deadlock" the car....'

Can I check what you mean - Is it the below:

1. 'LOCK' - By pressing the LOCK button on the Key Fob

2.  'touch the door handle within a few seconds' - Is this the annoying 'run your hand across the 'slits' on the door handle

3.  Deadlock - Does this mean - only way to open is pressing the 'UNLOCK' on the Key fob?  And not having to use the actual keyhole on the passenger side?  (Ala really old cars, needing the physical key else you are stuck.)

Hope you can advise

Best wishes

Martin

PS:

The Keyless entry bit of the tech is just unneeded bonkers in my opinion!

Pretty much yes as you describe. When you lock the car using the key fob, touch to door handle within a few seconds (you will hear a click and the indicators will flash again). At that point the only way to get in the car is using the key fob to unlock... keyless will not work.

I'd also suggest use of RFID wallets for BOTH keys just to be even more secure... this will block the keyless signal.

You cannot permanently disabled kessy. in car settings you can alter what doors open. And as a safety measure the key turns off after a few minites when not touched/moved so it cannot be read.
Get the MyŠKODA app so you can track your car it acts like a tracker.

Thanks Guys!  😀

To Deadlock - can I just press the LOCK on the key fob Twice?

That would be an easier way to remember to do it every time for me.

Not as far as I know... touch the door handle is the only way (we've been told)... but happy to be proved wrong. Test on your own car to confirm.

Pressing the lock button on the remote twice disables the alarm and also the deadlocks.

Gosh - Good thing I asked then!

ok, no pressing the lock on fob twice for me - What a stupid bit of 'functionality' there!

....hhmmm... perhaps for parking on crowded roads, with fast traffic going by etc....

Why would thieves want to steal a Skoda scala. Stop worrying about wether it’s going to get pinched and enjoy the car

Why?

Keyless has been mandatory on our cars for years.

I mock my family members running around in prestigious German cars when they have to fumble a key out of their pockets to open the door.  Even though their cars are advertised “keyless start”. And that’s all they get. Nonsense.

@BoxerBoyWho is 'our'?

Keyless is not mandatory in the EU, Europe or the UK, where in the world is it mandatory?

hi ‘82

I hear where you’re coming from, and in a carefree world, that’s exactly the approach I would take! Why stress about something?

in a city, why do people Nick ratty bicycles? Why do people, Nick rubbish mopeds? It’s because it’s there, and it’s nickable.

Ok Scalas are not high end, However, in the current world, the car is priceless, if it’s a wet, dark, miserable evening, and I want to get home. If I don’t have the car, because it’s pinched, I can’t enjoy it! 🙂

Best wishes.

Martin.

hi BB,

I think I know what you’re getting at.

By compulsory, did you mean the cars do not have the function to permanently disable keyless entry?

To each their own. I personally would like to have the choice myself to decide if I have keyless entry, permanently on or not.

Best wishes.

Not really understood kessy didn’t see the point so much messing. so stayed with press the open button to open the doors you select in settings get in press start button.  Press stop button get out shut the door press once locked with deadlock press twice locked without

The point is - life is so easy.

1. simply take hold of door handle, open door, climb in car, push start button.

2. No need to fumble in pocket (or handbag) to find the fob, fiddle with right button to unlock car.  Then return to step 1.

3. Climb out of car and simply touch door handle. Then walk away. But prefer to return to Step 2 to lock car.

Where's the down side of KESSY?  There is none.

I scoff at my relatives with Audis and Beemers - still fumbling with fobs, because the KESSY package is probably £££££.

I mean, a mass petition would of been not buying the car no?

You purchased the car with that feature advertised so why buy it if you dont want it?
