No acceleration at low revs

Featured Replies

Hello,

I’ve just bought a 2017 Fabia 1.0TSI SE and noticed the acceleration is very

poor at low revs.  It takes 3 or 4 seconds before the car accelerates Typically, this is a problem when in 2nd gear, when the RPM is in the 1000 - 1500 range.

Above this speed, the turbo seems to kick in and all is good.

I can avoid the problem, by spending longer in 1st gear, but there can still be an issue when e.g going around roundabouts after slowing down, and finding I just can’t get any acceleration.

Is this just how it is with this model, or could there be a mechanical issue with the car.

thanks!

Welcome.

Others that have the same car will be along hopefully.

What is your 1.0TSI  is it  95ps or 110ps?

How many miles on it now and has it had the spark plugs replaced and is there a clean air filter fitted?

Thanks!

it’s 95ps has has 37000 miles.

I don’t know about the spark plugs or air filter, though it it has been regularly serviced. I’ve just bought it from cinch and will ask if they can have any details.

Likely the plugs are fine but if not replaced already they might well be best replaced in the not distant future.

Skoda or a Skoda Dealership can show what is on their system for Servicing, Service Campaign or Warranty work, but showing Minor / Interim or Major services or Oil and Inspection Services is not enough if the extra work / parts replaced is not shown.

Best look in the Air Filter box then and see the air filters condition.

Regular Oil & Filter Services even at Skoda Main Dealerships does not mean stuff is done to the Recommendations or Guidelines or even a schedule.

A car from Cinch does not mean servicing is up to date as a member found out recently.

Look for a record of work done and when, like has the brake fluid ever been changed.
