Oil Leak (Micro Switch)

Featured Replies

Hi Guys

I have a Skoda Rapid with a 7speed DSG transmission. A while ago I had a warning on the dash, please leave in P position. Went to Skoda, and they said it needs a new transmission micro switch.
It was replaced, and all is good, but a few weeks ago, I had a oil leak, and no more oil leaks till yesterday. I am a pensioner, so can’t get under the car to inspect it.

Is it possible for the oil leak being down to the micro switch replacement. Do they have to replace any gaskets, which may be leaking.
Perhaps you guys may be able give me some idea, before I whizz of to Skoda?

How old is your car?

There was a Service Campaign on DQ200's 2013-2015 started in 2017 because of possible pressure issues leaks,  '34H5'  a Software Update.

Was that ever done.

Now is all going to depend on what the oil leak is.

There are 2 oils in the DQ200 DSG. in the box and in the MCU,  the MCU leak is rather common,

or is it Engine Oil that is leaking.

????

Was the DQ200 DSG's Micro switch repaired under warranty or did you pay for the work?

How much did this work cost?

It has a 2 year part & labour warranty if you paid for this.

The DSG  including the Mechatronic Control Unit will need inspecting.

I posted in the other section you posted in because i spotted that and not this.   General Maintenance.

A mod will bring that together here maybe.

How old , how many miles has your car done?

EDIT.

I see from another post maybe a 2018, so out of warranty.

Ignore what i said about the DQ200 DSG Service Campaign, that was on 2013-2015 cars.

It’s 4 years old, and it’s done 16,000 miles.

It was not under warranty, and it cost me £250!

Im trying to ascertain whether it is anything to do with having the micro switch, or another engine leak. What I don’t understand is, it leaked about 6 weeks ago, and not another leak till yesterday!

The microswitch repair you are referring to is inside the car under the gear selector, not outside on the gearbox like you might be thinking. It wont be related sorry

I thought it may be a possibility, that Skoda had to remove something that entails having a gasket replaced. Causing the oil leak!

@DgethinIs your car a 2018 then?

(Ignore my Service Campaign stuff '34H5' that was 2013-2015 DQ200's)

?

How many miles on your car and when was it last in for a service / oil change?

???

When was the micro switch done, and how many miles ago?

16,000 miles, it going for MOT and service next Tuesday. The switch was fitted six to eights weeks ago. Only less than 1000 miles ago!
