Heater blower stopped working

Featured Replies

Good evening.

My Climatic heater blower stopped very suddenly or rather did not work yesterday on start up.

All the wee green lights work on every setting but nothing blowing.

Looked on here and it sounds like either the Bosch resistor or the fan.

I had a look under the glove box, for a ten year old car it's absolutely in perfect condition, no water or corroded wires, gave the blower a gentle tap and took the connectors out for inspection. Zilch.

Nothing on the scan.

Am hoping it's the resistor of course as they are cheap.

The blower is a Valeo, is that the original factory part or did the previous owner replace it already?

Any advice welcome as I need it to keep the windscreen clear and its still a bit nippy up here.

Cheers

Sit in passenger side and give it a KICK with fan on full speed      if its seized which usually happens a kick will release it

A gentle tap wont suffice.
You've nothing to loose

I've had mine out 3 times now and a clean with some penetrating oil works wonders (for a While)🤪

Hi Delboy.

I have just done exactly that, piece of cake to get out. It span by hand but not too freely.

Looked at previous comments on here so just sprayed some WD40 on it, let it soak, plugged the electrics back in and hey presto, spinning like new.

Will reinstall it soon.

Big relief as they are not cheap

And when it seizes again you'll know what to do😁
