I'm thinking about replacing my ignition coil with a different one that works on 1.6 mpi engine... Is it a good idea?

No, it won't work properly, just replace yours if it's faulty otherwise don't bother.

You know I'm suffering with my spark plugs, they die so quickly and make that sparking sounds. I always install the genuine spark plugs but also...

As @sepulchrave says. Also, make sure you are actually using a genuine VAG coil assembly.
