06' Stuttering: You might like to try...

Featured Replies

Shell Diesel Extra...

I have a 06 Vrs with the BLT engine and encountered the stuttering purely as a result of filling with BP Ultimate diesel...that then made it run like a can of marbles.

I had run the car from new on Shell Diesel Extra, without any problems whatsoever for 2500 miles. Then in a moment of madness I got some Ultimate and it run very poorly for a while.

I then started buying my diesel from a well known supermarket chain based at Bradford. The stuttering started between 1600 and 1900rpm within hours.

There is a problem with the BLT engine, without doubt. It should be able to run without issue on all diesel fuel. I am just wondering that whether the Euro 4 regs that the engine is tuned to meet, mean it is more selective when it comes to running on a brand of diesel. After all Shell is a partner of Skoda for the rallying!

The Shell does have a higher cetane rating than most and I wonder if that makes a difference to this stuttering. I have tried to recreate the stuttering today and it refuses to do it.

I think BP Ultimate also has a higher cetane rating than normal diesel as well?

I don't have access to BP ultimate where I live and I have the sssstutter. I did use it while away last week and noticed no difference atall :)

i ran it on total diesle for first 450 miles of it's life and noticed the stutter but no big deal(not big enough to make me cry to the dealer). and then another 450 miles on tesco diesel. the tescvo diesel was good and I think the stutter has gone:thumbup:

it's either the diesel or the fact the engine has some miles on it. I think when it loosens up the stutter will go for good.

When I put ultimate in my Octy TDI the thing runs a lot smother than on shell standard derv. (Can't find the extra down here :( )

The ultimate has a higher cetane rating thatn standard derv, and I afree that some supermarket fuels can make a car run hella bad :(

Have Skoda identified what the stutter is? If it was a "misfire" type stutter, then running with a higher cetane fuel might help to fix that, but if they're working on an ECU code fix solution, I'd be surprised if it went away with more miles :D

Chris

Try Millers to boost cetane levels in your derv. good stuff.

not sure at all. apparently some new parts reading from the sticky post on the Fabia Forum.

I have no noticed the stutter at all for the Tesco Fill up. fill up soon so will see.

Only got my new 06 Vrs at the weekend (after two years of happy driving in my 04 VRs) .. stuttering on and off from about 1600 to 2100 rpm, especially disconcerting when you are doing about 70mph, let of the gas, apply a light throttle and juddering !

Currenlty done about 150 miles .. only ever run my car on BP ultimate (and always run the old Vrs on Ultimate as get around 5-6 miles per gallon) ... so I don't really think it makes a difference.

Spoke to Skoda today, the customer care line were very helpful, told me all details are currently back at the Czech factory and they are investingating and that I will be contacted by them when they do have a fix .... supposedly this affects ALL BLT engine coded cars across VW/Audi range ...

While it is good it millers dieselclean (now called power plus) isn't for PD engines, that is a newer version. Also skoda do state don't use any adatives so i personally wouldn't do anythign to chance the warrenty. Ultimate/extra is higher cetane and not an adative :)

Now done 6000 miles in just under 7 weeks...still stutterin :(

Is it definitely only 06 cars that have the problem?

I'm looking to buy a used one, maybe 03,04 or 05. Weren't the 05 cars Euro4 compliant?

just 06 as thats when the policy came to effect.

ok. it's not a mileage thing but it is laods better after using tesco diesel.the problem may be highlighted by bad diesel?

still a problem though obviously.

I've been using both TESCO and Shell diesel..makes little difference in mine!!

You 06 boys think its just you.

My 55 reg 2005 car has it too. Same ECU codes etc.

 I'm no boy!

All vRS' built after week 43, 24th October 2005 are EUIV complaint. It says so in the brochure. So 55 plate cars will be affected too! ;)
