Slow Engagement of Drive - DSG DQ200

Featured Replies

Scenario 1   Brake Pedal depressed, start car on ignition -  Move selector from P to D - Press accelerator pedal - Nothing. Get the message 'Press Brake Pedal' -  Do as I'm told & off we go.

Scenario 2   Brake Pedal depressed, start car on ignition - Move selector from P to D - Keep brake pedal pressed for 2 - 3 seconds - Press accelerator pedal - Off we go.

Only happens after car is started on ignition button, not after a Stop-Start event.

Is this normal or a sign of wear in the mechatronic ( sticky valve or similar)?

Does this explain why the Skoda is not recommended as a getaway car

So.  When has it been so, since new, since you got the car, more noticeable recently?

???
Are you using 1 foot, on brake then accelerator, not left foot on brake and right on accelerator?

So do you have Hill Hold Assist, and do you have 'Auto Hold' and have it enabled?

?

What engine, how many miles covered?

DQ200's 2013-2015 might require the Service Campaign / Recall Action '34H5' which isw a software update and was started in 2017.

PS.

Plenty take their cars with a DQ200 7 Speed DSG to 1/4 Drags (RWYB) and sprint with them & they move off the line pretty quick,

maybe just not with ones fitted to something the weight of a Superb.

I get that on my Golf occasionally, move into drive after starting up and nothing  - move the selector back to neutral and into drive again - all OK.

Like you say, never happens after stop-start.

I'm living with it .

Have only noticed it recently, but may have been happening for longer. I'm a steady driver so rarely need to get moving quickly, but when I do this problem becomes apparent. Scenario 1 will happen every time from ignition startup.

Single foot user only.

I have Hill Hold Assist but as far as I know it's not switched on.

1.6 Tdi , 130,000 miles.

2016 model so probably not covered by Recall.

Hill Hold Assist is there for a few seconds between you going from brake pedal to accelerator to stop the car moving if on a slope.

It activates when you push the brake hard enough, holds the car on a slope, nothing to do with the e-Brake or Autohold.

So Hill Hold Assist does not need switched on.      As to Autohold check if you have that switched on / enabled.

Your DQ200 DSG could maybe do with a 'Reset' which a Technician with all the gear and an idea can do when the car is in at them.

I have experienced this on a loan car, one fitted with an electric handbrake.

Never experienced it with DSG on cars with manual (ratchet lever style) handbrakes, and have had multiple cars like this over 10 years.

My guess is it is something to do with trying to start before it has checked the handbrake, so car isn’t ready for first couple of seconds.   Therefore not convinced it is a DSG problem, but possibly a sluggish handbrake mechanism causing DSG to have to wait.
