If your suspension bottoms ....

Featured Replies

I replaced My Fabia III with a Fabia IV SEL DSG a few months ago, and have been regretting it, because the front suspension has been bottoming at 20mph on speed humps and potholes when it clearly shouldn't. It took ages to get the local Skoda main dealer (who didn't supply the car) to inspect it but they have solved the issue: all Fabias leave the factory with packing blocks above and below the front struts to limit the front suspension motion and to avoid the front undertray grounding. In my case. the supplying dealer had failed to remove them at PDI ....  So if  you experience anything similar, check for bright pink packing pieces under the gaiter around the front struts!

Welcome.

Not an uncommon issue.

There are even Transit Block found as much as after 3 years even though cars have Main Dealer Servicing.

Recently cars posted about on here that have suffered damage because they were left on.

Have you informed the Supplying Dealers Dealer Principal?

Training needed there, that is of the supervisors as well as the junior / workshop staff.

PS

Was your tyres set at a safe pressure and not left as they had been for transportation and being strapped down?

Hi

Yes: I have had a discussion with the supplying dealer who now has to do remedial work as the bump stops are split and to check thoroughly for any other damage. The tyre pressures were OK.

The fact that the transit stops were still in means that part of the PDI wasn’t done, but you don’t know how much else they skipped, and what else hasn’t yet been done.

If it was me, I would be asking them to sign (that is a Director of the dealership) to sign a statement that no other parts of PDI were missed, or they accept liability for any problems.   If they refuse then simply point out that other parts (of PDI) might of been missed so would be better if the do a whole new PDI (and if it costs them money, it is their consequence of choosing not to do it properly first time).

If that sounds drastic, if parts of PDI are missed, are you comfortable all your wheel nuts are correctly torqued, or fluids at correct levels etc.
