induction kit

Featured Replies

Iv got 1.4 x reg fabia and am thinking about fitting an induction kit. the pipercross site I looked at early showed the cone just coming out of engine cover with air box and intake pipe removed.

I took the airbox out of my car tonight just as an excuse to tinker and make good use of the nice weather. I also noticed that connected to the intake pipe was a vacuum hose which looks important and goes into engine.

Any ideas or information on what to do, and do replacment filters give out a good sound?

All induction kits replace the standard airbox and panel filter. The problem with this is the risk of taking in hot air from the top of the engine or near exhaust manifolds. I had this problem on my old car, so I bought a few cold air feeds and placed them from the grill pointing directly to the new cone filter. Usually they are supplied with the kit. (K&N supply them with the 57i)

The vacuum hose you're talking about might be the oil breather pipe. On mine it plugged in to the underside of the filter.

Id go for it, the noise you get from a cone type filter is nice- much better than a loud farting exhaust noise!

Panel filters dont make much more noise than standard, maybe a slightly deeper note.

I might just get one then, good thing with induction kits is they can be easily changed unlike exhausts. il fit it and see what its like and i will make a cold intake of some sort myself if needs be. As for the vacum pipe, il just leave it be making sure it gets plenty of cold air.

Wot car u got and wot mods done?

Thanks for the help

If its the engine breather pipe (back left hand side) then it needs to be filtered somehow, of the car will stink of oil.

You're right, most induction kits are dead simple to fit and remove  The oil breather (if thats what it is) will need a filter on the end or plugging into the main filter. Ive seen them with tiny filters on sometimes.

Mods? What mods :P At the moment all ive done to the engine is fit a K&N panel filter, PD160 air intake, butchered the air intake to increase air flow :$ and fitted a shiny vent from B&Q in the wheel arch. Nothing major but they'll all help to get the most out of a remap. New exhaust is next.

Its a Fabia vRS btw, the old car I mentioned was a Punto 1.2!
