wondering if I've damaged something?

Featured Replies

Got the start of a dreaded slight rattle/graunch from my drivetrain. :D I can only hear it when in 2nd gear and just on no throttle from about 2000rpm and down. I don't hear it any other gear perhaps due to other noises? And it stops once I dip the clutch too.

Performance is all good - still accelerates fine and quietly in 2nd whenever I reapply throttle? I'm thinking perhaps something somewhere is starting to wear out. I'm not going to panic about it anyway - Its only a slight niggle now - Will have to see how it pans out.

Possibly the thrust bearing?

Sounds gearbox/clutch/flywheel related.

Clutch wouldnt surprise me based on a post you made recently about not liking the clutch in a traffic jam?

id say flywheel, mine rattles slighty idling in neutral

I was thinking flywheel as well - Will see how is pans out.

I'm sort of hoping I just cooked the clutch a bit at RTTS and its now a bit rough, and will smooth out eventually. Probably wishful thinking. Got me wondering if the kevlar clutch would mate up with the sachs single mass flywheel? Something to speak to Allards about perhaps?

Single mass flywheel - bye bye drivability in jams...

make sure its fixed before the N-Ring trip please jason , mines starting to feel slightly lumpy on tickover and i'm thinking DMF fault , and i think i'll need a clutch before august 18th as well

my tickover is fine, and it never vibrates or squeals during driving. I noticed it does a similar little noise when just lifting the clutch up in reverse too.

It will be fine, and I doubt will get any different before the Nring trip. If I do find the gearbox has started to fail though, it's time for that investment in the Peloguin LSD.

Sinle mass far nicer to use than dual, only rattles at tickover but far better during changes.
