Dashboard Dials Dark

Featured Replies

Hiya guys,

With the nights drawing in now, I've noticed during that period where it's not quite night but night quite day where lights aren't needed, the dials on the dash aren't very visible.

Does anyone else find this?

i've been checked that the dial back lights are turned up to max, which they are. But it looks like the dial back light is only on when the cars lights are on. (on my A3 the dial back light was always on)

Is there a way to turn the dial back light on constantly does anyone know.

cheers,

Can you see the clock ok and have you got heated seats. ?? If heated seats are not working either I’m afraid the bcm may have shot. Happened to me and a couple others on the suoerb forum. Same bcm (body control module) also know. As comfort control module.
might be something simple tho too

It dims down to remind you to turn on your lights early, as the dash becomes harder to read, turn them on.

You might be able to code with VCDS or similar to have the dash lit regardless of ambient.

I prefer the reminder myself, though I have always turned on lights early myself for additional safety.

Thanks for the response.

Got heated Seats and they work fine. There are no electrical niggles i've come across (yet)

I guess what my question really is, is should the dial back light be on permanently, or only come on when the lights are turned on?

I leave the light on auto and when they eventually come on, dial back light comes on fine.

I am sure you can code it to come on with Terminal 15 iirc, so they run all the time.

Do you have access to VCDS and can make channel maps.

If you don't have a software tool, I don't think you can set it in the car otherwise.

Yes, i have VCDS, so would just need to find what i needed to code. :)

A full channel map would be good for instruments, odds are that is where the coding lives.

ok, thank you. i'll have a look at doing that over the weekend
