car got a wobble on!

Featured Replies

anyone know what this could be caused by?

when accelarating from about 70+ i get a wobble as if one of my wheels aint balanced. the same when i brake but while coasting its fine.

i have got the spare on but its only just started to do it!

Worth getting the wheel balance checked as you may have lost a wheel weight which is causing the wobble :D

wouldnt it be a constant wobble though and not just when i accelarate and brake?

Check if the centre part of both tyres are worn...prolly too much air you've stuck in it..

I got it far worse when accellerating and braking and it was balance on my octy.

To top it off i had many places check it out and say all ok (dealer) and a few tyre palces balance it before it was fixed. You want a fingerplate balance to be done :)

When you say you have the spare on - do you mean the steel wheel that has the 80kph/50mph speed restriction stickers all over it?

If so, that wheel is probably not all that well-balanced.

Tyre pressures not equal (or correct) can cause similar-feeling problems.

cheers guys.:)

yeah it is the space saver that is on. will have to wait until skoda pull their finger out and give me another wheel before i can see if it is that, that is at fault.

ill check the tyre pressure tomorrow.

Daz, don't know how many miles yours has done, but I had an identical 'wobble' on my vRS (only under acceleration at high speeds). Took it to have wheels balanced and they discovered massive play in the n/s/f lower wishbone bush. Having bush replaced next week (I think the whole wishbone has to be replaced in fact), so will let you know if it cures it...

Daz,

check your wheel rims and make sure it's not split.

Seem to remember reading about a guys rim parting company
