Roof Rails Eventually Fitted 😃

Featured Replies

So, as many members know I've been wanting advice on how to fit the roof rails to my Roomy.

I just thought to let them know that as of yesterday they are on 👍😃

I brought the template fitting kit from Skoda Parts Direct (£140) and it comes with the locating bungs.

I brought some second hand roof rails.... (recycle ♻️ save land fill 😂😂)

And I got a local bodyshop to widen the holes to the correct size

And no, the headlining does not need to be removed (even skoda dealerships say it does) it doesn't, all done on the outside.

I'm pleased, I'm happy I have my dream Roomster now... like it should of been when it left the factory back in 2007 🤣😂🤣

Just need a roof cage now 🤣😂🤣

Thanks to everyone for the advice - much appreciated 👍👊

Do you get any more than the 4 bits of sticky-back plastic for your £140?

Finished job looks great, I always feel these cars (Estates & MPV's) look wrong without them.

The only justification I could see for removing the headlining would be to remove the drilling swarf but as its moulded I cant see it getting rust stains like a fabric roof lining would.

No need to buy templates for £140 when every Skoda retailer charge £185 for fitting rails...

Hi J.R. yes you do get a bit more the sticky back plastic.

The black tape is what my local bodyshop put on so I could drive home.

I have attached the templates, which are hard plastic.. and the black bits are the locating parts so you can widen the holes upto correct size.

I remember seeing a photo of some in the past.

All credit to VAG that they should still be available for a discontinued model.

Or if not VAG then whoever has kepth them in stock all this time.

Do not go there ever again!!!

If they are authorized Skoda retailer, they have to provide all the tools required (templates), and Skoda allow 150 time units to fit them. You've almost been robbed!

Thy to call any other Skoda dealer in this country and ask for fitting time...
