Folding mirrors and oil consumption

Featured Replies

Hi.
I just bought a second hand Skoda Octavia Scout 1.8 TSI -2011 with only 11400 km.

I have some quetsions for you.

1: Sometimes when I start my car and have not folded the mirrors the mirrors folds forward. Have to go around and put them back manualy and then there is no "click" at the right position.
When I fold the mirrors using the remote or the button inside they folds back but the same things happens when starting the car.

What is wrong? Something I can do? And maybe just disconnect the folding some way? I can live without it but not the hjeatingsystem in the mirrors as I live where we has real winter. 🙂

2: The engine burns some oil. It runns fine and smooth but I need to refill more than specifyed in the book.
I heard about the WD-40 cleaning method and some engine-flush and also running it on 10w40 instead of 5w40 and have some shorter intervalls to oil change.
Any Ideas? Anyone who had done something like a wd-40 cleaning of the pistons? In tests I have read that it will get much better compression and lower oilconsumption.

Regards.

Seems like I got the mirrors working. This morning they stopped at ther right place. Lets se if its just a good day or will keep working.

Welcome.

If a change of oil suits you then good, but the issue is likely greater than that can resolve.

Shorter Oil & Filter change intervals than fixed servicing should make no difference, if you are putting in oil regularly to top up you are refreshing the oil lots within each year / 15,000 km.
