AUX in on 2 DIN Satnav HU?

Featured Replies

Recently bought a 2005 Octavia 2.0 TDi Elegance with the factory fit 2 DIN Satnav HU and CD autochanger (I think it's part no. AAN600002 aka Blaupunkt RNS-MFD2). The HU has an AUX button which, according to the manual, supports an auxiliary audio in. (The unit also has a 'TELE' button which I gather is reserved for future use).

I know it's a frequent topic on this forum, but I seem to be having enormous difficulty establishing whether or not this HU does in fact support auxiliary audio in without disabling the autochanger. There's nothing in the manual other than an oblique reference, no information on the Skoda or Blaupunkt web sites and the dealer (Simpsons of Colne, Lancashire) couldn't be less interested, saying "they have no experience of the satnav unit" .

A local ICE dealer couldn't tell me without ripping the unit out.

It seems bizarre that the feature exists but does not appear to be documented anywhere.

Can anyone confirm whether or not the satnav HU does support an auxiliary audio in which I can plug the inevitable MP3 player (Creative Zen) into without disabling the autochanger and, if so, provide any information on how it is wired up? Are there simple phonos on the back or is it via the 'Quadlock' connector?

If not, what the hell is the AUX button for?

Here you can see some pics off the back: http://mfd2.heim1.de/index.php/MFD2

It's in German but who cares ? The second picture shows the auxiliary connection, it's the one in the middle. If you want to connect your Zen you need an adapter to do so !

You will need this one:

And i guess you need an extra cable, tulip to mini-jack for your Zen and all will function !

From the pics the MFD2 is well set up for aux video and audio inputs. Very nice and no need to dump the CD changer either like I had to. Although in my opnion the changer is a waste of time once you switch over to using MP3's anyway. Good luck.

Many thanks for this. Do you know where you can get this adapter? Is there a Skoda part number I can quote?

First of all, the MFD2 and the MFD2-RNS are totally different sat-navs. In measurement and software !

Second, i think this is commercial post:thumbdwn:
