Update Amundsen Sat Nav

Featured Replies

Having seen a dealer YouTube video on how to update my Amundsen sat nav it states I use my existing SD card; simply download the relevant update from the Skoda Portal to the SD card and then insert it back into the SD slot in the car - job done! Seems straightforward but have I missed something?

I was wondering does this update of the map only change data that needs to be changed? If it downloads complete revised maps each time then surely it will eventually run out of space on the 16 Gb card?  Also, can I assume that my original card will have been zipped?

If you want to play it safe, copy all files off the map card to a folder called Map-Old.

Then can delete all the files on SD card, beware a format could adjust cluster sizes.

Now you can extract using say 7-Zip software to the drive letter that's for the SD card.

Make sure you do this on a PC.

If you do need full EU coverage, you should buy an appropriate 32gb SD card

For Amundsen, this has to be an original Skoda card.

Thank you @MartiniB for maintaining these

Thanks Varoom. It appears that to download the Amundsen update it has to be an original Skoda card which fortunately mine is. Sorry, as you can probably guess I am not IT literate so could you please explain your caution "beware a  format could adjust cluster sizes"?

I mean it's best to NOT format the card, so just delete the contents on it first.

If you was to format the card, it could change file formats and cluster sizes.

So don't do that 🙂

Is an original Skoda card something I can buy from Skoda or are you referring to the SD card that was in the car when I bought it?

Thanks I'll have a go then!

A Skoda SD Card will have logo slapped on it, they have a specific ID that the Amundsen will read, and only load the map data if this code is present.

Hello ladies and gentlemen, I am new here and would like to ask you what the latest maps are for the Amundsen MIB1.
I found a link to a video showing how to unlock the system to use a non-genuine SD card due to the size of the maps.
