Currently I'm using 205 50 r17 on my Octavia Estste MK3. Since I live in place where roads are really bad with many potholes I would love to get a bit more rubber. I might go down to R16 or... I would love use 205 55 R17, what do you guys think? I know this is not supported tyre size but I would like to know if there wont be any problems with ABS/ESC or other tehnical issues? 

 

Speedometer should be fine, now it shows about 7% less speed anyways. 

 

 

use a tyre calculator like this https://tiresize.com/tyre-size-calculator/ and try to find a size that is as close to your current size as possible. I don't think there will be any issues with ABS/ESC as long as all 4 tyres are the same size.

Is the standard 17 size not 225/45? Maybe give that a go first. Cheap size too.

Whatever wheel size you fit just fit tyres of the correct Circumference / total diameter for the car. 

 

No problems with ABS / ESC or any other function or your insurance etc.   Just tyres on a car of the correct speed / load rating.
