Superb: Scratches and dent advice

Featured Replies

Completely my own stupid fault, managed to scrape side of my skoda on a small woden fence i didn't see at a tight turn.  Attached pictures, mainly on rear panel but also slightly on front door too. I will take it for some quotes this week.  Just  wondered if anyone here had any idea what cost I may be looking at. Hoping I can avoid insuarance claim.  Thanks everyone

I'd say new skin on rear door. Front could probably get away with skimming that with filler then spraying both. Looking at probably £700-£800 i'd say. Had a bump on rear arch and door on mine wasn't that big but cost me £400.

This cost me £400 back in 2019 at local body shop. The guy was awesome if you're near Newcastle. Insurance "approved body shop" quoted £4100... Felt like calling insurance fraud specialist on them.

I very much doubt anyone would do that repair with a new door skin for £700/£800.

They would also be creating grief for themselves in regards of panel gaps and alignment.

It's repairable as is, an insurance assessor might price a complete new door with loads of labour for paint & prep and  swapping parts over.

Thanks mate.  Crazy how big a difference that is.  I'll definitely get a couple of quotes.  I am actually in the Newcastle area if you wouldn't mind sharing where you got yours done.. thanks for the help, really appreciate it.

Thanks,  you think local body shop experts would be able to handle the repair as is? First time I've ever done this so am bir clueless.  Will drive to a couple of locals tomorrow.  Really appreciate people sharing their experience.

The guy I've dm'd you about will see it and tell you what needs to happen on spec on the day and give you a rough estimate but took a month or so to fit me in. Would definitely recommend him though.

Ouch, unlucky. You could try breakers and eBay for doors in the same colour, worked well for me with a previous car.

I'd say that you need a new door as the scratch is quite deep.

Look at my project log for the damage my wife did to our Superb - cost around £1000 for that to be repaired (and it was much less deep).

My project log link is below my avatar on the left.

Thanks,  you were right.  Took it to a few body shop places and they all said it was luckily repairable.  All also quoted between £600-700 . So it's booked in next Monday.
