2010 Octavia 2.0 TDi L & K message "Error EPS"

Featured Replies

I have this error message come up and whilst the engine turns over it will not start. I come back to it later and it then fires up. Anyone know what the problem is?

It has failed to start because it has detected a major problem with the electric power steering and so inhibited starting as this is a safety issue.

However, the power steering "fault" is quite often a failed or failing battery.

Check your battery voltage is not too low and if so, charge it and try again.

When was the battery last changed?

Thanks for that, the battery is only a couple of years old. The car is at my local garage now and the battery was one of the first things they tested. I am now waiting to hear from them.

I have now got the car back after a week away. The garage carried out several checks and replaced the engine control relay which had signs of corrosion on the relay terminals.  They then kept the car for a few days and it started on several occasions with no problems.
