Oil leak

Recommended Posts

I’ve discovered a very slow oil leak on my 2019 vrs. Noticed a few spots of oil on the driveway. Seems to be coming from the drivers side of the engine. Taking to Skoda for repair early Jan as they can’t fit me in sooner. Will keep an eye on oil level til then. Haven’t yet had to top it up.

Anyone had similar?

Need to look for where source is really to comment.

For example that is the side of oil fill cap, and they are a cr@p design to fill, easy to overspill. Oil then runs down side of engine and drips off sump lip.

On the other hand there is also oil filter housing, oil filter bracket, oil cooler in the locale as well.

Really try to see where that engine oil is coming from.

Be sure that it is not Oil leaking from the DSG / MCU.

.............

THIS MIGHT BECOME COMMON IF MAIN DEALERSHIPS ARE NOT GOING TO SERVICE CARS TO THE MANUFACTURERS GUIDELINES< RECOMMENDATION,

OR SPECIFICATIONS.  OR TELL OWNERS IT IS REQUIRED.

So,

Has the VAQ Diff been serviced? @ 3 years / 30,000 miles.

@manamp27 All the best with whoever you are going to for servicing and to get the leak checked.

Be sure to ask about what they have done in the past and about servicing the VAQ Diff. & do they know about servicing them.

It can be like the blind leading the blind.  Too many in the business of servicing & maintaining cars seem clueless.

Thanks folks for your replies. I’ll keep all of your suggestions front of mind when I take the car in. It is an odd one, as the car has had a very gentle life so far - 3 and a bit years old, 35k kms, dealer serviced and driven gently with the odd sprint.
