Boot not fully opening

Featured Replies

Greetings fellow Škoda owners.

I have a problem with my Škoda Superb 2018 limousine.
The car has an electric-powered boot, and when I open it, the boot opens to the desired height (in my case fully open) and then goes down slowly a few centimetres. It like retracts back.

I've had this problem for a few months now, and it seems it's getting worse and worse. It got to a point, when I put stuff in the boot, I almost always bump my head into the locking mechanism on the boot door.

My question is: Are struts the problem (I hope not), or is there a calibration process that I have to do, to make the door work properly again?
-If struts are the problem, is there a way to check which one failed or do I have to replace both?

Thank you for your time.

First thing you’d need to do is plug it in and check for fault codes, chances are a strut has failed but will need confirming via fault code or operation off the car for a short time.

If you look in the diagnostic section of this forum at the vcds owners map you may find someone local who can plug it in and give you a fault code scan.

I did plug it in, not through vcds but through launch and it did not show faulty codes for the boot.

Do you think VCDS would show it?

Did you try to reset the electric boot?

I know the opening height can be adjusted. The reset operation should be described in the user’s manual.
