Curently i have a Swift head unit in my 2011 Octavia but a Bolero unit is on the way with dpd. Have heard that i might need to upgrade some gateway thing. What is it for? Do i have one in my car at the moment?

You won't need to upgrade the gateway on a 2011 car.

 

You only need to do that on anything pre 2008.

 

On the earlier cars with the older gateway fitted, the newer radios would never fully power down so would drain the battery.
