We are going on our first ferry crossing in our new Octavia IV and I'm confused as how to lock the car whilst switching the alarm off .

Any suggestions / advice would be appreciated

Lock it using the key should disable the volumatic sensors whilst leaving the perimeter alarm set.

Just turn off interior monitoring and it should be Ok I think. I've done that in the past and not aware of an issue

Well, did that twice during summer.

First time i forgot to disable interior monitoring, and alarm was triggered.

Second time i remembered to disable it, and... alarm was triggered

I'm getting notifications from Skoda app/servers each time.

Seems interior monitoring is not enough, as there is also tilt sensor as towing protection, and this one is triggered on the ferry. I haven't found a way to disable it.

My advice - don't worry about it. Half of the cars on the ferry had their alarms on.

We are on an overnight ferry so don't like the idea of alarm going for eight hours .

 

Was the same in my case. First ferry was from Tallin to Helsinki (2 hours), but second one was from Finland to Sweden, and this one was 8 hours. Haven't really caused any issues. 

Manual seems to suggest interior monitoring and towing detection are both disabled
