Happy New Year folks. Had an issue with my 2010 vrs. Couple of tine now its been running like a bag of spanners. Quantum remap about 3 yrs ago, on 77k, servced regularly. Few days ago felt like it was running on 2 cylinders and very, very lumpy. Burning smell and smoke coming out the exhaust. Kept cutting out. 5/10 mins of trying to start and clear it and its running absolutely fine again. Happened twice, just fter turning uphill and stalled at the same spot.

Weirdly my wife's scirocco (2.0l tsi 2010) has done exactly the same thing at exactly the same place. Took it to the local garage, nothing found and ran perfect once it had cleared. 

Any ideas??! Garage is at a loss to find what it is as no codes came up.

If you have both bought fuel from the same place I would suspect contamination - probably water.
