Hi Folks,

 

So I'm just trying to interpret my VIN and am obviously missing something but I cant figure out what so I was hoping someone could help me?

 

The issue I have is that I own a 2011 Fabia Scout 1.6 TDI which was registered in September 2011, however from my interpretation of the VIN the car appears to have been manufactured in 2012?!

 

Any help much appreciated.

K - FABIA COMBI II, right-hand drive

L - 1.6 l TDI/77kW/diesel engine

2 - 2 Front + 2 side airbags

5J - FABIA II - (all countries except AGCC states as of MY 2013)

8 - Internal code

C - 2012?!

3 - Manufacturing Plant: Mladá Boleslav

041153 - Chassis number

 

 

The year in the VIN is the Model Year (MY) which isn't the same as calendar year, in a similar way to how magazines always seem to be a month ahead of reality.

MY12.  Manufactured after the Factory summer break in 2011 and the 'newer models until the MY13 is in production.
