USB compatible head units

Featured Replies

Hi,

I notice Kenwood are now selling head units with USB sockets and wondered I anyone had any experience with them?

I've been investigating the Kenwood units for the last two months because I want to buy one for my car soon. I used to have one of their previous mp3 playing units and it was the best at almost gapless playback.

Although most of the new units do not have a front facing USB socket I have been told that the rear lead and socket is long enough for it to pass into the glove box. I will be taking a look and listen of their sound quality and usability in the next couple of weeks.

Which model were you thinking of getting?

Not sure what model, they seem to start from about

Seen a couple of 'cheaper' ones on ebay which look pretty good - front sockets for USB and SD/MMC cards. Not sure whether they're any good.

Asked a dude in Halfords about the possibilities about running a USB hard disc but this doesn't work with some units (can't draw enough current).
