Adblue Top up failed to reset counter

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Tried a search but could not find info,

Having recently had the Adblue  range warning message come up on the dash I added about 12 Ltrs and followed the procedure to leave ignition on for 30 seconds actually left it on longer and turned off and restarted engine.

However the counter has failed to reset , I did find something online that indicated it could be reset with VCDS ?

The car is a 1.6 TDi on a 20 plate not yet 3 year olds with 19.5K on clock.

Thanks for  assistance

In reply to my own topic as may help others to cure this issue:

Having had Adblue warning message come up on dash purchased 20ltr of Adblue about £25 and display said min amount to add was 10ltr.
plastic drum fortunately came with filler spout and attempted reset leave ignition on for 20 seconds plus before starting but did not reset.

Having done some further research seemed problem could be did not add enough now down to only 700 mile range according to counter I looked at drum and clearly had not added enough as should of been half of  drum topping it back up again followed procedure ignition on 20/30 seconds and relieved it reset.

So it is important to add close to the the volume it says on display to avoid issues with it not resetting also do not overfill have read that can cause issues with calibration.

Finally do not ignore this warming or range indicator you can get to a a point where car will not start as tank is depleted.

Hope this may help others..
