Skoda vrs 1.9 switchable 12v socket

Featured Replies

Hi

my Skoda fabia cigarette lighter socket is on all the time which means I can’t leave my dash cam plugged in or it drains the battery.
what is the best way to make the cigarette lighter only go on when the key is on?

I have tried to piggyback the radio fuse but the socket was still live even without the key in… any suggestions as I don’t really want to faff about wiring in a relay but it may be the only option?

thanks

Hi yes I thought about one of those but I’d rather know the socket isn’t live when the key is off. Do you know of any switchable 12v sources that are east to get to? I was thinking of tapping directly to the accessory key position but I don’t know if I want to risk damaging something so important

I guess a IGN live from the radio connectors would be the closest.

Red/white feed to the cabin fan switch at the back of the heater/aircon controls may be your best bet.
