Media slow to load

Featured Replies

Anyone else had this problem? I store all my music on an SD2 card in my Mk3 Octavia. It was fine until I had an oil change and the service reminder was removed. Now it takes about a minute to load when the Media button is pressed. I’ve seen various video clips on YouTube, but am wary of cocking up the system. The garage insists it’s not down to them. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

It might be a good idea to check the SD Card to make sure it is still healthy.  So take it to a PC and do a bad sector check.

You need to run a command prompt on a Windows PC with Administrator powers

Type in the following to scan the SD Card (it will take time)

ChkDsk D: /R

ChkDsk = Command line Check Disk

D: = The drive letter of your SD Card, adjust to the correct letter

/R = Scan and check for bad sectors

You do it in a command prompt as you can see the output there and then, and if needed take a screenshot.
