pd160 Intake rubbing against coolant hose...

Featured Replies

I don't think I'm the only one to have noticed this, or suffer from it, but my pd160 intake is rubbing against one of my coolant hoses. I would n't mind too much but its worn away at the hose to produce a noticeable flat surface and if left unchecked would wear clean through the hose.

I've used to some metal tape to protect the hose for the time being, and will look to replace the section of the hose affected. Is there anything else that can be done to prevent this in the future. Having had a look at an Ibiza Cupra, the coolant hoses on that are jsut far enough apart from the inlet to prevent any nasty chafing problems.

It is tight. You can "train" the hose with a cable tie.

I use a piece of garden hose to protect it.

only do this with the engine cold ,release coolant pressure cap to allow any residue pressure out, retighten cap , then with a pair of mole grips ,grip the hose retaining clip on the largest diameter coolant hose , waggle hose slightly to loosen it on the plastic housing (do not remove hose) then twist the hose on the housing anti-clockwise , this will move all the other hoses round slightly and away from the PD160 intake pipe , then release the mole grips from the clip making sure the clip is square on the hose , this should cure your chaffidge problem .

Was just gonna say - didn't appear to be a problem on mine but now you've nudged a little nerve so will have to check :)

I have mine tied up with a little plastic tie ;) oops... hides from warrenty people again.... *ssshhhhhhhhh
