Kamiq -SE - No Sat Nav! Dog friendly?!

Featured Replies

Hi I’m looking for a steer from Kamiq owners. Is the SE reasonable in terms of spec? It’s been a few years since I haven’t had Nav as standard and it seems a bit of an omission?

Is Apple/google maps a straightforward alternative?

The biggest question I have though is the boot. In terms of cubic space it’s not the biggest in class. It it looks more practical than the Cx-30 and some others for carrying a dog?

Any happy Kamiq driving dog owners? Kids are in the back so the hound must ride in the boot. He’s a small male greyhound.

Thanks in advance for any input.

A dog should fit.  It's lower than some SUVs so less height to get the dog into the boot.   Probably be better with boot floor in upper (level with access) level rather than low.  So make sure you check it with floor at correct height.

Apple / Google maps is fine as long as it has android auto etc, just plug in phone with short usb cable. (Wireless for maps was only added more recently).   The built in navigation is not online (or for newer cars, just for 1 year, then offline unless pay extortionate renewal fee, so many revert to phone based maps anyway).

Thanks @SurreyJohn I didn’t know that about the Sat Nav. It wasn’t the case back in 2018 on our Karoq so good to be updated.

I’m not really a heavy user but the wife will use it for work visits and has got used to tapping in a postcode and going.

I use the Kamiq equipped satnav but also use Osmand on my phone for many years and in many countries.

Battery usage no problem and doesn't require online data on foot, bike or car.

There are other low priced phone based options

Hi Steve, I have had a Kamiq SE for 3 months now and find the Android Auto Google maps better than a sat nav tbh. My last 3 cars have had Nav and I don't miss it at all. It will even recognise somewhere you have searched say during that day on Google so all you have to do is click on it or you can press a button and just say 'Google, take me to Sainsburys in where ever" plus it will always be 100% up to date.

Only thing annoying missing on SE is auto wipers that we're standard but not since so called microchip crisis.

I'm an absolute convert to Google maps using USB connection and Android Auto; can't say how many time the live updates have helped and of course it is the same map settings as all my other Android or Google-using devices

As for dogs we chose the Kamiq specifically to accommodate one boisterous black labrador plus one Norfolk terrier who over last 30 months have driven length and breadth of UK in comfort and safety. One piece of advice, get a bespoke dog guard

Thanks all - some really useful replies. I’m just weighing up a few other options. I’ll post back here if we go for the Kamiq!

On paper the boot space troubles me but I think the actual shape of the back end of the car ensures it’s a very useful and practical space.

They all come with auto wipers as standard chip shortage didn't impact them. To turn on wiper stalk up once from off. At first if its just light rain the act like intermittent but as the rain increases they go quicker
