When I bought it I was told that it was a 100 BHP car. But they didn't even know that it had a Cobra alarm and 10 CD changer with it. How can I find out what BHP my car is (approx) without doing a rolling road? Does it say on the engine somewhere? All I've found so far is a big sign saying 1.4 16v.

see this could always be the 75 BHP version as its a W reg.

Lift up the boot carpet and there should be a sticker which will give the output in kW (74 kw I think?). If you don't believe that, turn up to a rolling road day and get an approx measurement of the power

my 1.4 wreg was a 16v 100bhp, got to look for the red 16v if its black its 75bhp:)

IIRC, the 1.4-75bhp was only used in the automatic Fabia. I wouldn't trust the colour of badges personally

noo on the fabia badge, under that it says 1.4 16v if its red its the 100bhp:)

im sure they did a manual in that, of course it was only just launched so yeah 100bhp 16v 100bhp was on comfort +/ 1.4mpi 74bhp was on classics+/ 16v 75bhp was on autos

Cool I've found it. It says Skoda Fabia 74Kw 5S.

Not that it makes much difference but its nice to know how to find out.

i was in a breakers yard about 6 months ago and i saw a fabia which must have been a real early model because when i had a look under the bonnet it had an early 1300 skoda engine fitted to it.

06 models have drum brakes.. dont know if earlier models have discs...

Open your service book, look at the first left page. It will tell you factory codes and the output in kW.

yes it probaably was. i didn't look too closely at it really because i was in a hurry.

It's a bit like the 1.4 Octy, why?? I've got a 1.6 (MKII- brand new!) as a loan car and that doesn't seem enough. 1.8 is what's needed!

Yes it 74kw(101 bhp). It also has rear brake discs, from what I can see of them through the steel wheels.

yep thats how I tell the difference.

Also the 100BHP version has '16v' whereas the 75bhp version has '16v' (that being the only difference from the badge).

My Sport is a 75 BHP model as I think all the sports were (apart from the newest models which use the 1' date='2 HTP engine putting out 64BHP). [/color']
