Skoda Felicia Pickup rear beam advice.

Featured Replies

Hi,

One of my first few posts on here. I hope I've posted in the correct section.

As the title says I'm looking for some advice on the rear beam. The current rear beam on the pickup has a big split in where the rear spring mounts/ cups are. Its the cup itself.

After a bit of Googling I've managed to find a new replacement beam but it has a hefty £260 price tag. I seriously grudge paying that!!

I've seen some breakers on ebay but only estates and hatchbacks, No pickups, so question 1. Are the rear beams interchangeable between models? Mine is a 1.9d BTW if that makes a difference?

In my Google search it led me to old posts from Teflon tom about his rear brake disc conversion. There i seen he had used some Polo parts on his Felicia which makes me think some vag parts may be interchangeable? I don't suppose I'm lucky enough there is a straight swap for the rear beam from a different vag model? Thanks in advance

@Neilswheels welcome.

According to this:

Main difference is the presence of ABS.

Maybe there are some factory welded mounting points for the extra cables and/or mounting points for different paths for ABS models.

And, according to this:

Rear beam axles are interchangeable between all Felicia models.

I don't know about the last letter difference between beam axle numbers but if that is something like different mounting points for small details like cables etc. It can be dealt with, without too much hassle.

Thats brilliant R_Blue, thanks very much for responding with good news.

I'll get on ebay and message the breakers. See if I can get a deal.

Thanks again mate 👍

1) the rear beam is not interchangeable. While dimensions and mounting points are similar, hatchback/estate has coilover dampers, so there are no spring cups on the beam itself.

Regarding the VAG parts, only stub axles are comatible with VW models.

The pickup was also sold as Caddy Pickup, so try to look up that model, too.

Thanks Papez.

Back to the drawing board.

Worst case scenario ill just weld it.  Not sure if that's allowed for a mot?

The list in this link made me thought they were compatible.

I saw Felicia Fun (which is a pickup) above the list but did not notice the "Více" word below the list. Which means "more".

Surprisingly Felicia pickup is not listed and it turns out Felicia Fun has a different rear suspension system.

I should've done my research deeper. Sorry for the inconvenience and thanks @Papez for his expertise.

R_Blue, Every day is a school day mate.

I had a look for anyone scrapping 1 on ebay and gumtree but no success.  Ill probably weld it at the weekend if the weather is dry. The pickup has been my daily runner for the past 9 months.  Love the wee thing.

It's just mistake in the store, it happens.

Pickup is usually not considered as part of the Felicia line, but Fun is included there, although it's derived from pickup. Maybe that's why it's included in the compatibility list.

Just fit the og one, dont repair a twist beam suspension you are only going to cause bad geomtry and unpredictable behavior assuming it doesnt snap with all the torsion

Developing welds on rear twist beam susp systems is A NIGHTMARE FOR OEMS
