Which brake pads

Featured Replies

Dear all

Long time no see. I hope all's well.

I'm changing out the pads on the 18' reg Kodiaq and note there are two sizes of front pad (per websites which take the registration).

Could anyone do me a huge favour and tell me which size pads I have, based on the VIN? I'm a bit stuck otherwise, as I can't get a pad off to measure it until the new ones are ordered and ready to be fitted...

Thank you as always, Amy.

The front brake pads fitted to the Kodiaq depend on what size front brake discs are fitted. So as you can see below, one has a width of about 160mm and the other has a width of about 175mm.

As you have a 2.0TDI, you probably have the bigger pads. The smaller pads might only be fitted to the 2WD 1.4 petrol models with 125HP and 150HP. So all 4WDs and all diesels, will probably only be fitted with the bigger pads.

However, it's best to check the car's buiild codes to be sure what brakes the car left the factory with.

Build code 1ZA or 1ZK means you have 312x25mm front brake discs.

Build code 1LW means you have 314x30mm front brake discs.

Build code 1LA or 1LG means you have 340x30mm front brake discs.

312x25mm front brake discs have TRW brake calipers that use these brake pads 1ZA 1ZK

@Carlston do you have the same info for the rears? im looking to change on my 2wd 2.0TDI (150) 67 plate 7 seater and want to specifically know if they have a sensor?

As you can see below, both the 300x12mm and 310x22mm rear brake discs on the Superb MK3 use the same brake pads. The rear brake pads on Skodas don't use wear indications.

The 300x12mm are solid rear brake discs.

The 310x22mm are ventilated rear brake discs.
