"Brake servo restricted" / "Manoeuvre braking currently unavailable" (2019 vRS Petrol)

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I've been having some issues with warning lights on my mk3 Octavia vRS.  Sequence of events over a few months is as follows:

* "Brake servo restricted" alert whilst cruising on the motorway.  Tentatively tapped the brake, no issue, alert cleared.

* Repeated instances of same "Brake servo restricted", maybe once a week (I do very little mileage, 11k from new in 2019), I tap the brake pedal and there's strange tiny amount of resistance ("mild crunch / click"??) on the first couple of cm then feels all perfectly normal.  I've had this alert maybe 20 times now.

* Googled the error until blue in the face and found very little online other than something on a VAG forum suggesting it being a brake vacuum sensor needing changing.  Took it to local independent VAG specialist, they Googled it too and reached same conclusion, put it on diagnostics, nothing really found other than the alerts that needed clearing.  They changed the sensor....  Car still has the same issue.

* I keep randomly get the error but have twice now also had "Manoeuvre braking currently unavailable" pop up, both when stationary and pulling away I believe.

Before I take it to my local dealer and they probably have no idea either, has anyone had this and found a solution to it?

The car is due a service now so I'm trying to get as much info as I need to pass on to the dealer to hopefully reduce the diagnostics cost.

Thanks,

Andrew

  • 4 months later...

For anyone else who stumbles upon this thread...   I saw a random post elsewhere about battery issues leading to some of these warnings triggering.  As I do very little mileage I did wonder whether this could be the case.  When I took the car for a routine service I also asked for the battery to be changed.  In a couple of months since then, even though I still only do infrequent/short journeys, I haven't had a warning crop up on the dash once.  So I'm hoping that was the cause.
