Kodiaq 4x4 TDI 140kW DQ500 - noise

Featured Replies

Hello everyone,
Recently obtained Kodiaq NS7 (140kW) 4x4 DQ500. What I can hear is strange like whining noise during acceleration. It is not loud (like in the background) but its more like bearing going bad. If you decelerate - noise goes off. Went to car service and they told me nothing wrong with the car - this is the work of the transmission. Is it only me like this or you also can hear the work of the transmission when accelerating? Managed to read a lot of posts in different forums about 4x4 Skodas and it seems like this is not a bug but a feature of 4wds. Car has around 97 000 kms (obtained on that millage). Car was fully serviced without detecting problems - all oils changed and parts cleaned.
Thank you!

Is that servicing the Haldex had 2 oil changes now and cleaning, and the DSG service done at 65,000 km?

Yes. Car history is clean and all done according to manuals and intervals.

My kodiaq is doing this. Does yours sound anything like it?

Mine is in park and I'm just blipping the throttle

Hi @Jimbobnob,
Mine doesn't do this. Pretty quite on my end. Have you serviced all the belts/pulleys?
P.S. My question is basically ended: went to two different services for a drive and all they said: "your car is very quite one for SUV. New Tiguans are noisier" . Nothing wrong with the car.

Sitting pressing the accelerator when in Park is not a good idea.

Hi toot, out of interest, why would revving the engine slightly in park be a bad idea? Not heard that one before.

I fixed the noise btw with the kind help of another forum member. (Who I owe a beer). Details in another thread I posted in.

@JimbobnobThat small increase in the vid of RPM is going to harm nothing, blipping the accelerator.

But sitting stationary it is hardly representing a whinning noise during acceleration.

?

Are you any further on with any diagnosis of why your car is making a noise that sounds as though it shouldn't make?
