second problem in as many days! off road now :(

Featured Replies

hey all, just thought I'd come on here and moan, as I'm on the net at Bickertons in Sheff, and waiting for a lift to take me home as my car has broken! :thumbdwn:

was on a lesson with a pupil, and she stalled (accompanied by the usual noises, so I thought nothing of it) and when she started up to drive off again, and tried to change gear, there was a big "knock"... I stopped her, and checked round everything, then tried to drive it myself...... feels to me like an engine (or gearbox) mounting has broken :( "in gear" if I come off andn on the gas, I can feel everything move, (and see the gearlever move) there is vibration through the gas pedal, and a "clunk" evertime I engage a gear with the clutch ! :( very sad...

anyway, It's in the garage now, and I don't know when they'll be able to look at it, they said maybe monday :( I have already had to cancel a driving test on monday, and have three others over then next two weeks :( this is bad :( hope they get it in and fix it asap !

NOTE: to the other driving instrictors on here, if you pupil appears as if they may stall, get that dual clutch down quickly!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (and prevent it!) :(

anyway, a very distressed, and tempererarly out of work driving instructor, signing off....... I'll update the thread as I have more info ....

:( :(

I must say the huge knock you get when stalling makes me shiver...

Good luck getting it repaired quickly fella.

Sorry to hear that.

I hope it does get sorted. I've stalled once and it gave me a real jump! It really does go with a bang!

I said card, but I would hope it's sorted on warrenty!" he didn't answer! :( )I don't want to end up going to look at a punto sporting!

First time off the road in 30K+ miles and 14 months with learner drivers at the wheel most of the time. the old adage that it is hard to stall a deisal as gone out of the window now that deiasal engines are being produced for performance and it is very easy to stall and the tolerance band between stalling and wheelspinning is now quite narrow. ( you try setting off in second or third, which in an old escort was easy). The first vRS we had I managed to stall while travelling at about 10 mph:eek: and the bang you get when it does stall is scary. Would imagine learner drivers will be stalling all the time so stress on mountings etc must be quite high. Hope it is just a mounting and sharky can get back to earning, The Renault Kangoo that used to be my company runaround ate two gearboxes both giving way after a 'stall'

Hi Mate

Josh had an engine mount go on his too.

If it is down tell them to get in touch with the parts dept.

If they do not have on in stock at the parts dept in England they can Bullet one to this country in 24 hours.

Let them know that it is a driving instructors car (if they cant tell) and that should get you back on the road asap

Sorry to hear that your having these problems.

But make sure that they get the part for you quickly it is a load of rubbish if they quote you a few days or more.

Get in touch with Customer Care if they dont help you quickly

Hope you get back on the road quickly

Take care mate

thanks for the kind words Sarah.....(and postmanpat) I'll update when they get back to me with the diagnosis, I did tell them every day it's off the road is costing me money :( I'll report how they go.....

and yeah 14 months and 38k isn't too bad before a problem, but I'm gonna reserve judgement until its fixed and I get it back! a couple of days I can work around, but a week and I'm gonna have serious problems.....

When the transfer gear went in the Renault the thing banged like a s76t house door when the plagues in town and bunny hopped every-where, from what you have said it sounds like an old fiesta we had did when an engine mount snapped. Enjoy the day off in the sun, and Ihope the inconveniance is short lived
