Featured Replies

Been for a long drive today and went to put the car away, turned ignition off, pulled the switch to do the window and find that both windows go up even tho im pressing one switch, turned ignition back on, tried again and they didnt move, then they moved a small bit then a bit more, then all the way. Any ideas

cheers rob

Mine switched left and right today. :D

No idea - just seems to be one of those little gremlins.

So is this a common accurance then, had a real bad week. First one of my new genisis tweeters got crushed inbetween the door and the dash, thats prob 40 quid of 220 quid set of components gone, then the latch on the door opener broke, need to order a new one, then my mate reverses his fiesta into the front bumper causing a bulge in it, now this, think im gonna slit my wrists.

This windows thing seems to be another bit of Furby 'character' - has got a mention a number of times here. My driver's window occasionally goes up then stops half way and drops a bit then loses the one touch facility (still closes when button pulled and held). Then it's fine............

Yep, mine swaps sides regularly ... weird when it first happens though.

Mine has done it once, just turn off and re-start...............I think that might be my comment for today!

My Mum's Fabia is completely fried.... When locking the car, the front windows come down. This can happen immediately, or after a few hours. Her central locking is completely fubared, and keeps opening randomly. I have already replaced the drivers side control module with no improvement, so I had to pull the central locking fuse. She has to lock the car via the passenger side door, which is a real pain cause she's in her 70's.

Hmm how peculiar. I haven't experienced any of these strange phenomena...

Had the left->right switching on my Fabia a couple of times, but luckily not a regular occurrence and easily cured by turning the ignition off and on. IIRC, Ross mentioned it was something to do with the CANBUS getting confused, but I don't think anyone ever found the exact cause :D

Chris

As long as the steering doens't get confused, can you imaghine that?!

Then you would be driving a BMW :P or maybe it's just the signals that get mixed up?

Guys this is getting a serious problem on mine now, earlier they refused to go up or down, would only go up working off the door key barrell, what can i do about it?

I had the left and right sides swop over on my old furby, thought I was loosing it!! Only had it once in 2 years of ownership though.

I heard that new golfs are having problems with random window openings after the car is locked. I think there was something in Auto Express's 'readers problems' bit about it, some blonde bird who's in the RAF was having the problem. I took more note of the woman than the technicalities- I need to get out more!

Dealer visit I think. Mine kept the sides swapped over all day despite multiple stops, but an overnighter cured it and next morning it had rectified itself again.

The only worry i have is that i had new genisis compnents fitted a week or so ago, and the window problem has only started since the weather started getting really hot. The thing that bothers me is will the dealer say sod off because i had the door trims off and speakers removed.

Best taking it to the dealers to see if there are any faults, if you've done the usual turn off restart and it's still playing up, then it's more than the usual mix up.

If you have taken the door panel off it might be worth just checking you haven't loosen any of the conections.

Is there not a home fix for this prob like battery off for an hour or something.

It really depends on what the problem is. Normally the window unit will reset itself after so many stop/starts of the ignition (3?), but if the problem is as a result of the components you've fitted then it won't go away just by resetting them. You can try disconnecting the battery for an hour, but I reckon reading off the fault codes with VAG-COM may give you a better idea of where to look for the problem :D

If you have time, it may also be worth unplugging your components and seeing if the problem sorts itself :D

Chris

mine does it when it gets humid or theres certain feeling in the air ie an electrical storm kinda style then the windows go into dizzy mode! mind you my stereo has been playin up too i think its the static charges these cars get because they work off remots rather than wires ( i think the theory is near enough that) happens to all furbys as far as i know:)

12v has swapped sides a few times.. think its a can-bus thing!

It only started doing it after that really hot saturday a week ago, its getting right on my tits.

  • 1 month later...

My 1.4 petrol Fabia regularly drops both front windows when car is locked up. No other window problems. Judging for earlier replies there is no fix for this. Is there?

could water ingress into a module be causing this ? i know some years ago Ford Galaxys had a similar problem caused by water in the control module , the module was mounted on the floor under the passenger front seat
