Dual Mass Flywheel

Featured Replies

Hi

I was cleaning the brake calipers this morning, the engine was running and when I got to the front near side wheel I could hear a very slight rattle, I asked my partner to press the clutch pedal and when she did the noise went. you can only hear it when you are near the front wheel. My question is does the flywheel and clutch need doing immediately, it my have been doing it for weeks / months anyway. The car has only done 71 thousand miles I have never ridden the clutch, TBH it has really ruined my day!.

Very doubtful.

Thanks for the reply, this morning when the engine was running it was cold, I did some running around in the afternoon and when the engine is at temperature the noise stops, I'm going to leave it for now and see if it develops. Do you think it could still be the flywheel?.

This is what mine sounded like when the flywheel went - it came out of nowhere and there was no build up, however.

The noise disappeared when the clutch pedal was depressed.

Probably just normal wear on the clutch thrust bearing.

Thanks for the replies,  To Skoda2114 the sound mine made wasn't anywhere near like that!, strangely I started the car this morning, when the engine was cold and no noise at all! I'll keep an ear on it.
