Rattle Help

Featured Replies

I have been getting a really bad vibration/rattle from the Front passenger side door for ages now and it's driving me mad. I initially thought it was the glass rattling in the frame but it's not. I have removed the door card, but the rattle is deeper down into the door. If I press against the area where the Window motor is it stops. My question is this looks very complicated, is it possible for me to unbolt the section of the door shown in the pictures to delve deeper into the rattle. I am imagining all the Electric window and Door locking mechanisms in there could cause me some problems:mad:

Had the same thing. When you put the door card back, sandwich some foam between the card the inner door skin (about level with the top of the door pocket) and I think you will cure it.

Mine did this. They fixed it under warranty. I didnt ask what they did to stop it

Mine does this too. It's going into the garage on Wednesday so I'll let you know what they find/replace...

Fixed today by dealer - it was a wire rattling against the inside of the door trim!

Mine had the same fault which was the electric window regualtor. It took a week to get it sorted as "the vRS uses different pop rivets to all other Fabias".

Can't say I believe that but it's what I was told.

Yeah, looks I'm going to have to brave going into the innards of the door :(

You have any luck mate? Have got a similar sound coming from the passenger door myself...

It really is relatively easy to cure. No need to take the whole door card off. Just remove the screws along the lower edge and pull the card lower edge away from the door. You can then insert a sheet of foam (1/2" thick or so) and relocate the door card. Job done!

Where abputs in the door is the foam placed? How big a piece of foam do you think? Would be great to sort this out - but if you have some more detail id appreciate it so there is less of a chance to fudge it up! :)

That didn't fix my problem, the rattle comes from deeper within the door. I'm going to let the dealer do it, I just can't be bothered:P

A piece about 8" square in the centre of the door just above the top of the storage bin.
