ABS speed “ring”

Featured Replies

I have an issue whereby the plug-in scanner is picking up that the rear left wheel has a moving speed even when the car isn’t moving!!

Have changed the ABS sensor and no change in reading and the stability warning message appears every time the engine is started.

I am told there is an ABS ring sensor on the hub (?) that may be the fault but can’t seem to find the part.

My Yeti is a 2015 model.

Any ideas what I do next?

many thanks

The ring is a castellated lump of metal which rotates with the hub next to the sensor which "reads" it via hall-effect sensor.

Check this for rust, damaged/split teeth. If it's dirty, damaged or past it's best it will cause the sensor to pick up erroneous readings.

Is your ABS sensor a cheapy, less than £10 if so, I suggest you get a bosch or similar costing around £20, I had similar probs which disappeared when the more expensive sensor was fitted, I thought it was all smoke and mirrors, but apparently not!

Isn't it a magnetic ring integrated into the wheel bearing/hub?
