Car constantly locking itself

Featured Replies

I'm having an issue with my Fabia mkII where it will repeatedly lock itself. Typically this happens right after unlocking (within 1 - 5 seconds), and if the driver's door is all the way open. Some additional problems I had were:

- No beeping when lights are on, and driver's door is open

- Strange behaviour of driver's side window such as going down when pulling the lever up, or juddering up and down

- Boot will not open until a rear door is opened

To me it sounded like some wires in the loom from the driver's side door were broken and there were some loose contacts. Having taken a look (I totally removed the harness and checked the wires for breaks), it seems fine. The connector also seems fine (I've attached some pictures). When the connector was disconnected, the locking issue immediately stopped.

Now I've put everything back, the car beeps when the lights are on, and the door is open, and the window works fine. The other problems remain however.

Does anybody have an idea what could be causing this? The problem definitely seems to be somewhere in the driver's side door, but I'm not sure how to diagnose where.

What you've done so far proves that the insulation has not broken. It has not tested the individual wires in their sheathes.

it's not something  as silly as the central dash switch (in the console) being stuck as it's near the cup holders and is probably suceptable to spillages ?
