DSG 6 speed or seven speed

Featured Replies

Hi guys going to ask a question of superb owners    2 L  petrol 190 brake horsepower does this particular version come with a 6 speed wet I believe all does it become with a seven-speed dry gearbox   sorry I'm very new to DSG gearboxes have always driven manuals but I thinking of buying this particular Skoda in the 2 L version and brake horsepower   maybe a very very low mileage one but   i  have heard horror stories about DSG gearboxes I would probably go for a 20 or 21 plate something around the 6,000 to 10,000 mile range nothing higher I believe the 2 L does not come with a manual gearbox all input would be welcome

It is not the dreaded DQ200 7 speed twin dry clutch DSG as not fitted to 2.0 TDI's or TSI's.

So you are talking 6 speed DQ250 DSG or 7 speed DQ381 age dependent.  Wet Clutch DSG;s.

Someone will know which have DQ500,s.

Thank you for information lime me I only thought there was two types seems to be a lot of codes I am presuming last few codes would be the one that I would be interested in ie 1.9 break horsepower married with that particular gearbox coding how do you know what gearbox code is in what vehicle when you come to purchase it I am presuming seven speed is the one that would come in the two litre

6 speed it will be a DQ250 & 7 speed a DQ381,

unless someone can tell us there are others like a DQ500 used.

One last question why do they still make a 6-speed surely a seven-speed would be the box that the manufacturer would go on into the future and then maybe innate speed later or is the 6 speed for something like a one liter to a 1.5 liter and the seven speed is for two liter onwards thanks you have made it a lot clearer for me

You are in the UK as i can see to the left.   So people have to check your profile or assume where the vehicles you are asking about are sold in.

Not all see that if on a phone.

6 Speed DSG's are still used in some other world regions including Australia i think.    (where the Emissions cheat with WLTP regimes does not matter.)

They were always on about doing a 10 speed DSG which really is like using a CVT.  Not for practicality, to get low emissions.

Then it turns out VW like cars getting good test results but stuff the driving behaviour on actual roads with drivers paying for the cars.

PS

In other World Regions you can get the Excellent 1.4 TSI without ACT and with an 8 speed torque converter automatic gearbox.

Practical car that uses fuel, emits emissions and gets the test results true to consumption without the WLTP crap.

Now Skoda / VW are going electrified for Euro 7 and the WLTP / RDE2.

Already the Mild Hybrid 1.0 or 1.5 TSI have the DQ200-e,

The Plug in 1.4 TSI or 1.5 TSI is a 6 speed DSG not a DQ250 but a DQ400-e.
