Diesel leak - help

Featured Replies

hi, if anyone has any ideas, it would be a big help. i have a big leak on my 1.9 Felicia van, it pours out somewhere around the fuel pump, around the timing casing but i can,t find where..all pipes and injectors are sound and dry,as are filter and connecting pipes. the van runs as normal, to me ,this suggests it must be on it,s way back to the tank?is there a return pipe on the back or underneath the pump or am i missing something simple.? thank you:confused:

I am guessing this is in the wrong section and that somebody will move it in the near future :)

I had an old XUD with a fuel pump that pi$$ed out derv. It was the deals which had finally given up after using the low sulphur diesel for a good few years. Some of the older fuel pump designs used this sulphur to lubricate themselves and so when there is almost no sulphur in the fuel they fail over time.

Other than that no idea, but I am sure somebody on here will know.

Oh and welcome to briskoda.

Welcome to Briskoda. :D Thread move to the Felicia forum and second query posted in Guides section merged with this one..

i might need correcting but dont think there is a fuel return ?

Have you had someone give it some wellie while you look under the hood? The pump will no doubt force the gazole in a fine spray.

the injection pump on my felicia van is leaking diesel, do you need special tools to remove, or can it be done without?thanks

timing pins to lock the belt would be the only specialist tools req'd iirc , then just the usual array of spanners/sockets etc , the only other thing that might be a problem is the pulley on the pump , as it maybe on a taper ,not sure on that though

it might be a dodgey injector forcing fuel out of the injector air bleed ( the little rubber hoses linking the injectors which is joined to the fuel return hose on the injector pump)

yep those fabric hoses are very prone to life expirery.
