2017 MIL and seceral DPF-related VCDS faults

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Second post on here, high mileage MkIII (253k miles) that I thought was a bargain but there with more than a few issues to deal with...hopefully not but I'm sure you shrewdies on here can enlighten me either way anyway.

As per previous initial post re: DPF differential pressure sensor fault code the car appears to drive fine, no loss of power or limp mode AFAICS, but I am still getting the engine light and associated fault codes upon ignition even after an Italian tune-up type of drive with a dash of Dipethane to try and get the DPF to sort itself.

VCDS Fault code list is attached below.

When the codes are cleared using VCDS the MIL goes off and the only 2 codes that remain and re-appear on ignition key cycle are 5253 Particulate Filter Differential Pressure Sensor P2452 Electrical Malfunction, and 9764 Exhaust Pressure Sensor 1.

Is it possible one sensor is malfunctioning (DPF Diff Press Sensor) and setting the others off, or is it likely my DPF is toast given the high mileage on the car to date?

And excuse my ignorance re; Mk3's and the vagrancies of DPF symptoms in general...but if the DPF was indeed blocked or blocking I should surely get a filter or glow plug symbol on the dash or similar.

P.S. The car has just had the Timing Belt changed (advised but who knows) and I'm hoping maybe it's the DPF differential pressure sensor alone that's the most likely culprit?

Many thanks in advance for any advice you might have.

Best regards

Joinny 😉
